  • Where are you located?

    We offer counseling services at three convenient locations:

    - Upper level of the Waverly Senior Center, 506 E Bremer Ave, Waverly, IA 50677

    - 2327 Falls Ave, Suite 8, Waterloo, IA 50701

    - Grand Avenue Business Center, 302 N Grand Ave, Charles City, IA 50616

  • Are walk-in appointments available?

    Not at this time. Same day appointments may be available. Call us to check availability.

  • Do you have a 24-hour crisis line?

    No. You are free to call the main line 24/7 and if we are unavailable, leave a message on the confidential voicemail. We will return your call as soon as possible.

    In the case of a life threatening emergency, call 9-1-1, or go to your local ER. If you are not in serious danger but would like to have someone to talk to, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

  • Do you accept insurance?

    We currently accept the following insurances for counseling services:

    HealthPartners, Medica, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Midland’s Choice, Wellpoint, Molina, Cigna, Iowa Total Care, and Medicare.

    You will be responsible for any copays. You are encouraged to contact your insurance to ensure that services would be covered prior to scheduling.


  • How much do you charge per session?

    Initial assessment for either mental health or addiction is $190. Individual therapy sessions are $120.

    Payment is expected at the time of services.

  • What are my payment options?

    We are able to accept cash, check, or debit/credit at the time of appointment, or you can be billed online and pay by debit/credit card.

  • What if I need to cancel?

    If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, we ask that you provide us with 24-hour notice.

    If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than 24-hour notice, our policy is to collect the no-show/late cancellation fee equal to the cost of your full appointment time—unless we both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control. This would not be covered by insurance.

  • What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

    CBT aims to help people become aware of when they make negative interpretations, and of behavioral patterns that reinforce the distorted thinking. Cognitive therapy helps people to develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving which aims to reduce their psychological distress.

    Trauma-focused CBT targets emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with trauma.

  • What is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)?

    EMDR is an integrative therapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.

    EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporate elements from many different treatment approaches.
