I have been in the human services field for over 20 years. My background as a therapist includes working in both mental health and substance abuse settings. I utilize a trauma focused approach. I am trained in cognitive behavioral and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT/TF-CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT).

Tricia Coleman-Waterbury, LMSW

I have worked in the social work field for over 19 years. I work to individualize therapy to each client’s needs. My primary focus is utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT), and client centered approaches. I have worked with many clinical issues including anxiety, depression, transitional life adjustments, relationship struggles and coping with grief and loss. Additionally, I’m working toward the practical integration of trauma-informed yoga therapy, mindfulness and breath practices to reduce symptoms associated with anxiety, stress and to bring whole-body awareness into clients’ mental wellness.

My experience includes working with pediatric through geriatric patients in various health care settings. Additionally, I have provided individual and family therapy in community-based, residential treatment, temporary shelter settings. I’ve facilitated caregiver support groups, grief/loss groups for children through adults, and children's bereavement camp for children 5 and up. I have experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and coping with grief/loss experiences. I utilize a client centered and trauma-informed practice. I work to empower clients to cultivate their health and healing through therapy.

My experience includes providing individual family therapy in a community-based setting, working 15 years with the State of Iowa Department of Human Services, and as a certified drug and alcohol counselor. I have experience working with individuals that struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress, addictions, life changes and all age groups. I am also certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I believe in working with the mind, body, and spirit.

I have been involved in the human service field for over 30 years and have been providing therapy services for over 20 years. I have a varied background with experience in corrections, in-home family therapy, mental health emergency evaluations and community mental health. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, domestic violence victims, people struggling with parenting issues, chronic mental illness, depression and anxiety. I am trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). I work with children 10 years of age and older, couples and families.

I have worked in a residential and partial hospitalization treatment center which was primarily for adult (ages 18-50) women, where I provided individual and group therapy. My preferred therapy choices currently are dialectical behavioral therapy, person center, and solution focused. I have experience with eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety. I enjoy empowering my clients by using their strengths to enhance their life and belief in themselves and have a meaningful life.
